Introducing Non-Linear, the moniker of Goa based architect and digital artist Dennis Fabian Peter. Through his work as Non Linear, Dennis explores temporal ideas in the fields of music, visuals, interactive art & spatial design. Inspired by Science Fiction and the concept experiencing thoughts and reliving memories in a non-linear timeline - this artist’s work is an accurate reflection of exactly that.

Dennis makes his debut on Skip-A-Beat with ‘This City Swells’ - a gritty, groovy and pulsating sonic representation of the city of Mumbai, accompanied by visuals created using open source maps and GIS models of the city.

‘Having lived my recent years in more rural areas, I am easily taken aback by the pace and energy of our cities when I visit them. This song was inspired by a recent trip of mine to Bombay, where I was staying bang in the heart of the Khar district. Open street side market by day, nightlife hub by night, the constant
energy in the area was unlike anything that I had experienced before. The song and video are testament to a metropolis that has the limitless energy to keep on going despite everything that is thrown at her. The bass line of the song starts off as a constant pulse which is reflective of the pace of the city. The distortion on the bass also reflects the grungy grit of the city. At the end of the song, the bass line transforms into a more groovy polyrhythm. This is when the city really finds its rhythm.’

Dennis initiated this project during his time at the ‘Selector Pro: Visual Music Residency’, which was organized by Skip-A-Beat, Future Fiction & The British Council.
